A DRONE was used to locate a group of men who had been involved in a police chase.

Officers used the piece of kit to find those responsible for a cross border pursuit from neighbouring Cumbria into Lancashire.

The drone was able to locate the men and direct officers and canines from the dog unit towards them.

A spokesman said: “Another successful find for Lancashire Police Drones.

“Located and guided colleagues from the dog unit to a suspect who'd made off into fields following a cross border pursuit from the Cumbria force area. 3 arrested in total.”

Tweeting about the incident, DCC Terry Woods added: “At Lancashire Police we strive to invest as much resource as possible into frontline policing-to protect the public and listen to staff giving them what they need operationally. This approach resulted in our full time drone team, which continues to deliver arrests and find vulnerable people.”
