A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed after drugs worth £42,000 were found at the family home.
And by being sent to prison Nasir Khan has followed in the footsteps of his brother Nushad, who was the "mastermind" of the enterprise.
Nasir Khan was jailed for two years and eight months after admitting being concern in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine.
Earlier this year Nushad, 19, was sent to prison for five years.
It followed the discovery of £42,000 of heroin and crack cocaine at the family home in Rook Street, Nelson.
Burnley Crown Court was told that Nasir Khan had claimed he knew what his brother was doing but had turned a blind eye.
He did not actually hand over drugs, the court was told, but got sports gear in part payment and was with his brother Nushad three times when Nushad supplied undercover police.
Sentencing him, Judge Beverley Lunt said that while he had not been as heavily involved as his brother, his role was more than someone just turning a blind eye.
She told the defendant, who had had traces of drugs on his clothes, that anyone prepared to be concerned in the supply of drugs of that value and volume must expect a lengthy custodial term.
Judge Lunt said: "I have to punish you for what you did and deter others from behaving as you behaved."
Sarah Statham, prosecuting, told the court police went to the brothers' family home in April and found a large amount of heroin and crack cocaine in Nushad's car.
A search of a bedroom revealed 19 wraps of crack cocaine, six more wraps were found and more heroin was also seized. Drugs paraphernalia such as carrier bags, scales and knives were also in a downstairs cupboard.
Altogther the officers found 389.86 grammes of heroin and 31.34 grammes of crack cocaine, together worth up to about £42,000 on the streets.
Miss Statham said when Nasir Khan was questioned by police, he made no comment.
The defendant was bailed and both he and his brother were seen by undercover officers in Operation Nimrod, which was carried out in Brierfield and Nelson.
Nasir Khan was caught on covert video three times.
He got sportswear as part of drugs deals, but did not hand over the drugs.
Miss Statham said £7,990 was found in one of his jackets.
Bob Elias, defending, said: "He's been in custody, on remand since the end of August.
"He's had that lesson and in real terms further imprisonment is not going to do him any good."
