A BLACKBURN school has scooped a major enterprise award after entering the competition for the first time.
Blakewater College, Shadsworth Road, has won the best trade stand award at the 2007 Young Enterprise Christmas Trade Fayre.
Despite being held in wet and windy conditions at Ribble Valley Council car park, Clitheroe, the Shadsworth school beat strong competition from six teams.
The students impressed Clitheroe towncryer and businessman Roland Halewood, who judged the competition, with their range of hand-crafted Christmas cards and metal decorations.
The college faced competition from a host of schools from Blackburn and the Ribble Valley.
Blakewater teachers Paul Carr and Steve Turner are involved with Young Enterprise at the school, and Mr Carr said: "Obviously with it being our first year in the competition it's a fantastic achiev-ment for the girls. This will give us a boost ahead of the final next June."
