YOUNGSTERS from disadvantaged areas are being given the chance to become movie stars in a superhero film to be made by kids.
Based on cult BBC 2 TV series Heroes, the film will be a sci-fi spectacular that explores how young people can be empowered to make decisions.
The project, funded by Hyndburn Ribble Valley Youth and Community Service, is targeted at young people aged 12-16 living in Springhill in Accrington, and Church, but is also open to all youngsters in the Barnfield, Central, and Peel wards in Accrington.
Those taking part will have an opportunity to learn new skills including film making, script writing, set building and acting.
The film is a partnership project between Hyndburn Ribble Valley Youth and Community Service, Youth Action @ Hyndburn, Hyndburn Community Network and the 5 Wards Youth Forum.
The hairman of 5 Wards Youth Forum, Stephen Gill, 16, said: "We are seeking young people with particular skills and interests, especially drama and acting, or people who just want to get involved in any part of the project.
"We want to use this video as a promotional campaign around local schools and youth clubs to empower young people in their community and to highlight the difficulties young people face in society today."
The five-week project will take place on Tuesday evenings in Springhill Community Centre, Exchange Street, Accrington from 6-8pm from January 15. Filming will take place in February.
