A MOTORIST who got angry and shouted racist abuse when he had to stop his car to let pedestrians cross the road has been jailed for three months.
Preston Crown Court was told an 18-year-old had been to the mosque with other members of her family when two abusive remarks were directed at her.
Mohammed Rafique, 27, of Dundee Drive, Blackburn, admitted causing racially aggravated alarm and distress.
Judge Anthony Russell told Rafique: "The remarks were completely uncalled for."
Mark Lamberty, prosecuting, said the offence took place on the evening of April 20 last year.
The woman and others had been to the mosque and were crossing the road and caused Rafique to slow down and stop.
He tooted his horn and abused the woman. A note was made of Rafique's registration number.
Mr Lamberty said Rafique had previous convictions for public order matters.
Timothy Ashmole, defending, said: "It was a momentary loss of temper."
