Here's why you could have been stuck in traffic on Preston New Road this morning
There has been an accident on Preston New Road.
At around 8.40am, the AA traffic and travel website reported that there was queueing traffic on the A677 both ways due to an accident.
Cars have been queueing between the junction for Meins Road all the way down to Barbara Castle Way.
It is not yet known the severity or extent of the accident, or if anyone is injured, but as of 9am, the road appeared to be clear.
A spokesperson for the traffic and travel website said: "Reports of queueing traffic due to accident on A677 Preston New Road.
"Traffic is queueing both ways from Meins Road to A6078 Barbara Castle Way.
"Sensors show a problem here."
