A driver has been arrested after testing positive for drugs while travelling at 100mph on a busy motorway.

Officers were first alerted to the silver Saab while it was speeding along the M6 on Sunday afternoon.

The driver then proceeded onto the M55 where he passed a police car at speeds of more than 90mph.

The Saab was ordered to pull over before the driver asked to provide a drugs swab.

Unluckily for him he swabbed positive for cannabis and cocaine.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Reported to have been 100mph on the M6.

"Passed police car at 90+ on the M55.

"Driver now under arrest after positive samples for cannabis and cocaine."
