CHILDREN at St Edward's Primary School and Earcroft children's centre sang at a special lunch for their parents, grandparents and carers yesterday.
The celebration in the community cafe at Earcroft, is another step in the developing relationship between the children's centre and the primary school as part of the extended schools scheme.
The extended schools project features schools that offer extra, out-of-hours services.
The school and centre have been increasingly working together to promote and plan activities on each site, including a shared open day, and St Edward's has been commended by the council for its extended schools work.
Anne Jones, parent liaison teacher at St Edward's, said: "We are very pleased to get recognition for the work the school is doing to extend and promote the school services around children, their families and into the local community."
Coun Chris Thayne, executive member for children's services, said: "It is heart-warming to see children and parents from both the school and children's centre celebrating the festive period together."
