A man who attacked a Longridge pub doorman with a bottle has been jailed for two years.
Preston Crown Court heard that Peter Hayhurst, 29, should not have been at the Dog Inn in any event as he was barred from the premises and others in the district under the Pubwatch scheme.
Hayhurst was described in court as a kind and sharing man who simply could not hold his drink.
The judge told him: "You deliberately attacked him with what could have been a vicious weapon.
"The message must go out that those who arm themselves with bottles and bash people about the head must be punished."
The defendant of Derby Road, Longridge, pleaded guilty to unlawfully wounding Joseph Threlfall on May 13 this year.
Hayhurst had previously been banned from entering licensed premises in the district, under the Pubwatch scheme, following an earlier incident.
Miss Hilary Manley, prosecuting, said that Mr Threlfall, who had his own door security operation, was filling in for an absent member of staff that weekend.
