A 56-YEAR-OLD man was injured during a struggle when he went to challenge a gang of yobs causing a nuisance outside his home.
Police in Blackburn are appealing for information after the incident happened on Wednesday, December 12 at 7.25pm.
The man, who lives in Greenside Avenue, went outside to speak to the gang of around 20 teenage boys who were causing trouble in the area.
Police said as he challenged the youngsters a struggle ensued and he fell to the floor grazing his elbow and ankle.
He damaged his glasses before the group ran off.
Inquiries are underway and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
PC Lisa Walmsley said: "A group of about 20 teenagers were congregating outside the man's house causing general anti-social behaviour.
"The man went outside to challenge them, which resulted in him being injured after a struggle with three of them.
"I appeal to anyone with information to assist with our inquiries to contact the police.
"I would always advise anyone concerned about anti social behaviour in their neighbourhood to contact the police rather than take matters into their own hands.
"Fortunately the man was not too seriously injured although clearly this was a serous incident and it is important that we speak with the youngsters involved as soon as possible."
