COUNCIL chiefs in Pendle are considering a deal which could safeguard the long-term future of Fence Village Hall.
Lancashire County Council has offered the hall to Pendle Council on a 125-year lease, for a nominal rent, subject to the facility being retained for use as a community centre and library.
A newly-formed management committee has taken on responsibility for the village hall and has promoted a number of activities there in recent months.
