A MAN has been fined by police after he stuck both his middle fingers up at a mobile speed van.
Ben Baron was driving through Clayton-le-Moors when he saw the van and made the decision to lift his hands off the wheel and make the gesture.
The dad-of-two from Great Harwood said he made the decision to stick his fingers up at the police van in ‘celebration’ of being under the speed limit.
And while he didn’t receive a fine for speeding, he was hit with a fixed penalty notice for not being in full control of his vehicle after the police cameras picked him up driving with no hands on the wheel.
Mr Baron is now fundraising to help pay the fine.
In a post on his page, he said: “I was travelling under the limit when I spotted the van and decided to celebrate by flipping him the finger. Unfortunately I did it with both hands and he clearly decided to make it personal.
“It Made my day when I got notice of intended prosecution together with frameable photos for not having full control of a vehicle.
“Happy to take the points on this one but was suggested I gofundme to pay the fine and donate any excess to charity, whilst its amusing covid is tough.”
So far Mr Baron has raised over £200 of his £1,000 goal and has garnered global media attention.
Not being in proper control of a vehicle can earn offenders three penalty points and a £100 fine with a maximum penalty of £1,000.
