A MAN was arrested getting into a taxi to Bradford after vehicle keys and a car were stolen.
Police were called to Colne Road, Trawden, in the early hours of yesterday to reports of a burglary after keys for vehicles, including a white Fiat 500, were stolen.
Later, the same white Fiat 500 was later reported to have crashed into a parked Lexus in Winewall.
The suspect fled and police dog Zorro and his handler tracked miles across snowy fields in the search, which went towards Colne Road, when an officer was stopped by a taxi driver who enquired if he was the man who had ordered a taxi going to Bradford.
The taxi was followed and when the customer got into the taxi he was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
The 19-year-old man, from Bradford, remains in custody.
Insp Andy Ainsworth, from Pendle Police, said: “This arrest came as a result of good police work and I would like to thank all involved. We will increase patrols in the Trawden area in the coming days.
“I would like to take this opportunity to remind residents to keep all doors and windows secure and to not leave any valuables or vehicle keys on display.”
