THE parts manager at a Clitheroe car dealer ran off after police found him fighting in the street on a Saturday night.

Blackburn magistrates heard that minutes later Shaun Stell was caught fighting with another man and again made good his escape.

But he was tracked by the town's CCTV system and was eventually found hiding down a back alley.

Stell, 23, of Queen Street, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. He was fined £100 with £58 costs.

Scott Ainge, prosecuting said police were called to Wellgate at 11.30pm where they saw Stell fighting with another man and both ran off in different directions.

A second officer saw Stell a few minutes later involved in another fight with a different man.

"They were two separate incidents and he was obviously looking to fight with whoever he came across that night," said Mr Ainge.

Liz Parker, defending, said Stell was very sorry about his behaviour which had landed him before the court for the first time.

"He is a hard working young man who has worked his way up to a position of responsibility and this behaviour is totally out of character," said Mrs Parker. "You can be confident you will not be seeing this young man again."
