A HEADTEACHER is going out on a high note after his school was given an "outstanding" Ofsted report.
Graham Clayton, 61, has been the head at Brookside Primary School, Bright Street, Clitheroe, for 21-years and is calling time on his teaching career at the end of term.
Mr Clayton said he was proud to retire after an Ofsted report classified the school as outstanding in all but one of the assessment groups.
And the report praised his leadership at the school.
It said: "The headteacher provides exemplary leadership and has an exceptionally clear vision for raising standards and improving provision.
"This is shared by staff and governors and is significant in promoting the pupils' high achievement and excellent personal development."
Mr Clayton's wife Olwyn is an administration officer at the school and the pair have worked together for the past 21-years.
He is now heading for the crown court service where he will do part-time clerical work to keep himself busy.
He said: "The Ofsted report is a real achievement for all the staff and we have had some good SAT results as well. They do a good job with all the pupils here.
"I am sad to be leaving but looking forward to retirement at the same time."
