LIBERAL Democrat councillors have called on Pendle Council to support the re-opening of a railway line between Colne and Skipton.
The line was closed in the 1970s and SELRAP, Skipton East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership, is now campaigning for it to be re-opened.
The Liberal Democrats are also asking the two county councils to protect the line of the route in the meantime by maintaining it as a bridleway and cycleway.
Coun Tony Greaves said: "Re-opening the linet is a dream, but thanks to the fantastic work done by the members of SELRAP it is not an impossible dream.
"It will take time, and in the meantime let's use the line as a recreational transport corridor. Then when the line is re-opened let's keep a bridleway and cycleway alongside it."
