A WOMAN attacked by her partner was left with a V-shaped split in her lip through which her teeth could be seen, magistrates were told.

And the court heard that one of the officers who responded was equipped with a helmet mounted camera, which was used to record the injuries.

Blackburn magistrates heard that despite the severity of the injury Amanda Croasdale did not want to make a formal complaint against her partner, Carl Meadows.

But she had told them he was responsible.

And Meadows, when arrested nearby, was spattered in her blood.

Meadows, 33, of Preston New Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting Amanda Croasdale causing her actual bodily harm.

He was committed in custody to Preston Crown Court for sentence after the magistrates ruled their powers were insufficient.

John Wood, prosecuting, said that police responded to a phone call from Amanda Croasdale and found her in a hysterical state with blood coming from a "significant" injury.

He said Meadows was also subject to a suspended sentence imposed by the Crown Court.
