A WOMAN who lost her therapy cat in July has increased the reward for his safe return.

Kristen Remmer said that her cat Oliver went missing from his home in Clayton-le-Woods shortly before his fourth birthday.

Oliver was last seen on July 9 by one of Kristen’s neighbours going off into the woods and an appeal for a safe return was put out with a £500 reward.

Kristen said: “It’s heartbreaking. I know a lot of people who are in my situation.

“I want Oliver back but I also want to help other people as well because there is just so much that people don’t know about.

“There are so many people feeding what they think are stray cats and they are someone else’s fur baby.

“It’s so easy - you only need to take them to a vet or animal rescue to check for a microchip.”

As the search has gone on, the reward has now been increased to £2,500 and since speaking with authorities and is more sure than ever someone has taken Oliver Kristen has said that at the start of the search, people were calling her with false leads, distressing her further in her search for hope for the safe return of her beloved cat Oliver.

She is expecting the calls to begin again with an increased reward but she had accepted this was due to her desperately wanting to get Oliver home.

On the Cats Protection website, speaking about what to do if you have found a stray, it says: “Before you do anything, it is important to think about whether the cat you’ve found is a stray, a feral or an owned cat.

“If they appear well-groomed and is a healthy weight, they may have an owner nearby.

“Ferals behave like wild animals and won’t come close, even with encouragement. Stray cats might look lost and disorientated, but may be friendly if given time.

“If the found cat is friendly, you might be able to check for an identification tag. You can take the cat to your nearest vet to scan for a microchip, or call your local Cats Protection branch for help.”
