We may be biased, but we think Blackburn is a fantastic place to live and move to.
The town is loaded with history and is constantly being developed in order to make it an evem better place to live.
Still not convinced? Here are seven reasons why Blackburn is a fantastic place to live.
The houses are affordable
According to Zoopla, the average house price in the UK right now is £289, 622.
A massive perk of living in Blackburn is that the average property price is much lower than this.

If you are looking to rent, rental prices for an average three bedroom home range from £450-£775 per month depending on the area you want to stay.
It’s more than just an industrial town
When people think of Blackburn they assume it is an industrial town - but it is also surrounded by natural beauty.
Witton Park is situated in the countryside has plenty of grassland and woodland for locals to explore; the River Darwen also runs through the park.

It is also one of the largest urban open spaces in the country and was once the ancestral home of the Feilden family.
The historic Corporation park is another beautiful area in Blackburn.
This park opened in 1857 and is a real beauty spot filled with lakes and wildlife.
There is a property to suit everyone’s preferences
From the most high end tastes to those on a smaller budget, there is something for everyone to enjoy on the Blackburn property market.
Currently, the most expensive home for sale in the town is a whopping £965,000.

According to the latest government data, 17 primary and secondary schools in Blackburn received a ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ rating in the last year.
The ‘outstanding’ school is Pleckgate High School while St Paul’s Roman Catholic Primary in Feniscowles and St Aidan’s Primary School are just two places with ‘good’ ratings.
There are plenty of things to do
There is never a dull day in Blackburn.
For an educational day out, the Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery houses a world class collection of rare and beautiful artefacts.
There are also a lot of unique shows and events at the Blackburn Empire theatre, including performances by tribute acts.
The Mall Blackburn is the place to visit for all of your shopping needs as it is home to B&M, Boots, Game, Foot Asylum and many other big shopping names.
The transport system in Blackburn is continually improving
Blackburn with Darwen Council are continually improving walking and cycling routes withing the town.
Last summer, they used fund from the Department for Transport’s Emergency Active Travel Fund to create several safe walking and cycling routes in the town; particularly around Witton Park.
The council will be using the second chunk of money to make further improvements and changes to the transport system in the area.
It’s bursting with culture and history
Blackburn is a town with a lot of history and culture.
This is something you can learn more about at the town’s most notable monuments and historical buildings such as Blackburn Cathedral.

If you didn’t already know, it made its name in criminal history after becoming the first town to undertake the mass finger-printing of people following the murder of June Anne Devaney in May 1948.
It is even home to an ancient well called ‘All Hallows Spring’ which is behind the pub on Railway Road.
