A YOUNG mum who was banned from taking her baby into college will continue her fight to get the rules changed.
Liz Cooper, 25, of Baron Street, Darwen, was asked to leave the IT room and library at St Mary's College, Blackburn, because she had five-month-old Dominica with her, even though the baby was asleep and Ms Cooper was only taking part in a small study group.
The married mother-of-two, who is studying for a degree in early years health, said she was seeking further advice before meeting with college principal Kevin McMahon, including meeting other mothers who had been allowed to take their children into other colleges.
She said: "I want to try and get as much advice as I can before I go to the principal.
"And then that I can get all my arguments across.
"I have had a lot of support from other mums and people who have studied in groups where babies have been allowed, and I don't think the colleges health and safety grounds really stand up.
"At the moment it's coming up to Christmas so the college work is easing off and I haven't had any childcare problems, but I will have to see what happens in the new year."
The college said the decision was taken for health and safety reasons and that babies could disturb other students.
