RESIDENTS in Blackburn are being warned to make sure their cars are locked at night after attempted thefts recently.
PC Mark Perry posted about the news on the 'In the Know' website to residents in Fernhurst and Oakdale estates.
He said: "Following the numerous reports earlier this week of vehicles being targeted for thefts, enquiries have been conducted and numerous pieces of CCTV seized and viewed.
"What is clear from the footage is that the offender is just walking up and down driveways trying car door handles and if they find them unlocked they are then searching through them for items to steal, they are not using devices to cause the vehicles to lock.
"If the offender when checking cars finds them all locked it stands to reason they will not continue to target the estate so if we can get the message out for everyone to lock their car when getting out of them these type of crimes will cease to happen."
