THE mum of tragic hit-and-run tot Levi Bleasdale has kept her freedom for a string of offences after trying to get her life back on track.

Kirsty Ryan, 23, who offended while on a suspended jail term, had been given a deferred sentence by a judge three months ago.

Burnley Crown Court heard this week how the defendant was still going though a rocky time in her life, but had not offended since, which was what the judge had asked of her.

Ryan, who has a daughter Brogan and gave birth to a premature boy earlier this year, was given a community order with six months supervision.

The defendant, of Wasdale Close, Padiham, was warned by Judge Beverley Lunt not to go back to crime. Judge Lunt said although Ryan was still going through a rocky time and her mother had been ill, there was positives in her life and she had not reoffended.

The defendant had earlier admitted using a false instrument, failing to surrender and two theft charges and had been committed for sentence by magistrates..

Levi, three, died after a hit and run accident in Burnley in September 2005.

She had been knocked down by Mohammed Aqueel Hussain, who was uninsured and at the wheel of a stolen car. Hussain was banned after the accident and was last Friday sent to prison for 180 days for flouting the order three times.
