The bomb squad had to be called on New Year's Eve after live ammunition was discovered at a disused tip.
On Thursday afternoon calls were made to the police from concerned residents in the Ribble Valley who had come across some small shells and a large explosive.
The devices were made safe, but only after the disposal unit confirmed a large 80mm shell had a live fuse mechanism and some remaining explosive material.
A spokesperson for the Ribble Valley police said: "Letting the New Year in with a 'BANG' in Slaidburn this year.
"An interesting end to 2020 as earlier today live ammunition was reported to police.
"Assisted by our chums at the Army Bomb Disposal Unit, our camera shy squaddies did a sterling job in assessing potentiality live ammunition.
"The smaller pieces of munition were inert, the larger shell was assessed as having a live fuse mechanism and possibly some remaining explosive material.
"Two of the British Army's finest assessed the shell which was then made safe for us.
"The large 80mm shell was possibly uncovered from a nearby disused tip area.
"The smaller munitions were handed in by a local resident while we happened to be there, so the bomb disposal could ensure these were safe too.
"A timely reminder that the emergency services at our 'disposal' (pun intended) are many and varied."
