A GANG of vandals are being hunted after a catapult attack in Blackburn.

One resident said he was left "stunned" when a pellet was fired through the bedroom window of his two young children.

His home in Wisteria Drive, Lower Darwen, was shot at and he said neighbours had told him that a corner shop and a derelict factory in Roman Road were also damaged during the firing spree.

Lee Brown, 32, who has two children Leoni, six, and Olivia, three, said: "I heard a loud pop and thought it was the dryer or the electricity so I checked the fuses but couldn't find anything.

"It was when I was taking the kids to bed that I saw there was a hole in the window and realised a shot had been fired.

"I couldn't believe it. One of the kids could have been seriously hurt if they had been in bed at the time.

"I didn't see anyone but I have since been told a couple of lads were seen in the area firing catapults.

"They need to be caught before any more damaged is done or someone is seriously hurt."

Police said they are investigating and urged anyone with information to get in contact.

A police spokesman said: "We received a report on Saturday night saying a first floor window has been hit by something similar to a pellet.

"PCSOs in that area have been informed of the incident and having been making house to house inquiries.

"We don't know why this house has been targeted but inquiries are continuing to find those people responsible.

"We appeal to anyone who may know anything about this or any other incidents to get in contact with the police."

Anyone with information should ring Blackburn Police on 01254 51212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
