A MAN who smashed his "long suffering" ex-wife's window after turning up at her home drunk was given a 12-month conditional discharge.
Burnley magistrates heard how Francis Brennan, 60, of Cog Lane, Burnley, broke the glass in the front door and then went to the living room window and told the victim: "This one's next."
The court was told how Linda Crossley would say she had ended her relationship with Brennan, who she has children with, because of his drinking. Brennan, said to have had eight pints of Guinness, nine Benedictines and water and four pints of bitter before the offence, shouted "Never" from the witness box.
Brennan admitted damage. Nick Dearing, defending, said Brennan was still welcome at Miss Crossley's house as long as he was sober. He had never used violence against his ex or their children.
