DARWEN Sub Aqua Club will today collect the Heinke Trophy and a £1,000 cheque for being declared Britain's top diving club.
The club won the accolade in May, beating strong competition from hundreds of other clubs.
George Brooks, adjudicator of the Heinke Trophy, highlighted a number of reasons why Darwen was successful this year.
He included its estab-lishment of a database of members and use of its website, effective promotional activities, scientific diving and implementation of an effective child welfare policy.
The presentation is at Darwen Golf Club.
Next Tuesday, Rich Walker, UK director of Global Underwater Explorers, will give a presentation on diving philosophy, at the White Lion pub and then at Bank Hey pool, Blackburn.
The evening begins at 9pm and divers from all training agencies are welcome.
Global Underwater Explorers is committed to developing safe, skilled, and knowledgeable divers.
