A WOMAN who believed customers of a neighbouring shop had damaged windows of her home took revenge.
Blackburn magistrates heard Debbie Grant punched a door of the shopkeeper’s van and “keyed” a panel on a Mercedes car parked outside.
Grant, 43, of Redlam, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to damaging a van belonging to Nazzaqat Ali and a car belonging to Emma Taylor. She was ordered to pay £250 compensation to Miss Taylor and £150 to Mr Ali .
Katie Lord, prosecuting, said Grant accosted Mr Ali as he left his shop and claimed customers had damaged her windows. “He walked away and got in his van but she followed, still shouting, and punched the door,” said Miss Lord.
“She then started shouting at a man called Chris who worked in the shop and threatened to damage every car parked outside the shop.”
Miss Lord said Chris later saw her scratch the Mercedes and reported the damage to the owner. Duncan Nightingale, defending, said: “She believed these people had caused damage to the window of her living room although she now accepts there was no real proof.”
