A WOMAN rang her husband's girlfriend and told her he had a conviction for a sexual offence which involved an underage girl.
Blackburn magistrates heard Azeem Ali Amin had subsequently finished with his girlfriend and now wanted to get back with his wife who attended court to support him.
Amin, 34, of Cardinal Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with requirements of the sex offender register by failing to notify an address he had spent more than seven days at. He was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £128 victim surcharge.
Peter Bardsley, prosecuting, said Amin was married but also had a girlfriend who had a young child. She told police they had met in a takeaway and after they had been seeing each other for a few weeks he told her he was married.
"She was upset but he told her he didn't want to still be married," said Mr Bardsley.
"They had been seeing each other for six months and he has stayed at her address on about 10 occasions and her four year old daughter had been there."
John Rusius, defending, said Amin had been working in a takeaway and met the other woman who was a customer.
"They exchanged telephone numbers, got in touch and it progressed from there," said Mr Rusius.
"He would call round on his way home from work, in the early hours of the morning, and then go home at about 8am."
He said the child was always in bed and his girlfriend had told police she was with him at all times.
Mr Rusius said things came to a head when his wife decided she had had enough and telephoned the girlfriend.
"He was in the process of ending the relationship when the police arrived at the house," said Mr Rusius.
"He now just wants to get back with his wife who has come to court to support him."
