SEVEN people died in East Lancashire’s hospitals over the weekend after testing positive for the coronavirus.
Figures for Friday, Saturday and Sunday show the death toll for the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General rose by seven to 290 fatalities since the start of the pandemic.
Elsewhere, four new deaths were reported over the same period by the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, where 222 people have died after testing positive for covid-19.
Two fatalities were reported by staff withing the Southport and Ormskirk NHS Foundation Trust, bringing the total death toll there to 196.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals announced two new deaths on Sunday, November 1, making the total there 300.
Deaths announced over the last few days at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has meant the death toll there has surpassed 300, with a total of 303 patients dying after a diagnosis.
