NELSON pubwatch scheme is launching a new poster campaign reminding people to behave in pubs.
The Inn at the Nick' posters show that if you cause trouble in pubs you could face a £80 penalty notice, a fine of up to £5,000, a criminal record, a possible prison sentence, and a ban from all pubs and clubs.
Mick Armfield, Licensing Enforcement Officer for Pendle, said: "The ultimate aim of the initiative is obviously to ensure that people behave in licensed premises.
"While the posters may contain an element of fun, there is a serious message behind them in that if you don't behave you will have to face the consequences.
"Initiatives such as this and the use of the radio scheme linked to the town's CCTV cameras will assist in providing a safer environment for the public, licensees and their staff."
The Chair of Nelson Pubwatch and Designated Premises Supervisor of the Trafalgar Hotel, Richard Gilbert, said: "We don't want trouble-makers in our pubs or clubs.
"By working with the Police and the Council we are committed to providing a trouble-free environment for our customers."
