A man has been arrested by police investigating an alleged fraud which resulted in a pensioner paying £21,000 for worthless home improvements.
Vincent Cheetham, 72, took out a loan after spending his £16,000 savings on a series of projects at his home in the Earnsdale Road area of Darwen.
The investigation involved a company called J&L Roofing Contactors.
On Monday, a 42-year-old man was arrested in Whitefield, Greater Manchester, for offences of fraud and theft and released on police bail until January 28, pending further enquiries.
