ALMOST 400 new coronavirus cases have been recorded across East Lancashire in the last 24-hours, the latest figures show.
The large spike in cases saw Blackburn with Darwen recorded the highest new number of infections, with 97 people testing positive for covid-19. A total of 5,227 infections have now been recorded in the borough, more than anywhere else in Lancashire.
Rossendale recorded the second highest number of new cases, after 77 people tested positive for the virus in the latest round of figures. The borough has now seen a total of 1,773 people with covid-19.
Burnley and Pendle were close behind with 63 new cases bringing the borough’s total to 2,883 in the former and 2,050 in the latter.
In Hyndburn a further 55 cases brings the area’s rolling total of infections to 2,050.
The fewest new infections were recorded in the Ribble Valley, where 1,116 people have now tested positive for the coronavirus following the addition of 36 new cases.
