A THUG who was jailed on his 20th birthday following a string of attacks on teenagers is being hunted by police after going on the run.

Lancashire Constabulary has listed David Alan Steer, now 21, on the most wanted' section of its website.

He was jailed for two-and-a-half years in September 2006 for a street robbery committed on a youngster in the early hours.

Steer was also convicted of two further assaults on teenagers.

Steer, of Dall Street, Burnley, was dealt with at at the town's crown court alongside his brother Michael, then 17, of Pheasantford Street, Burnley, and Charlene Nicholson, 17, of Clover Street, Bacup.

Michael Steer was jailed for 12 months, for the same offences, and Nicholson, then expecting a baby, was given a 12-month referral order.

The robbery victim had withdrawn money from a cash machine when he was attacked first by David Steer, then by his brother and girlfriend.

Police said that since being freed early from prison Steer has gone missing and not complied with the terms of his release.

Inspector John Clucas, who is co-ordinating the most wanted' campaign for Lancashire police, said he hoped the "most wanted" move would prove successful.

He said: "I am very pleased with the contribution the public are making and as a force we will continue to embrace new technology and use every means possible to bring offenders to justice and return those to prison who have breached the terms of their early release."

Steer is one of a number of Burnley fugitives still wanted by Lancashire Police.

Others already on the section include Michael James McQueenie, 21, originally from Burnley, who failed to appear before Lancaster magistrates after being charged with being drunk while in charge of a child and obstructing a police officer.

Scottish-born Lisa Marie Hartley is wanted after failing to appear at Burnley Magistrates' Court.

The 28-year-old, whose last known address was in Nelson, is accused of theft and breaching a court order.

Sinead Shaw, also from Burnley, did not attend the town's magistrates' court after being charged with a breach of court order.

She is also wanted in connection with allegations of theft and deception.

Patrick Robert Morley, 39, who had been living in Burnley but has connections in Ireland, is wanted after failing to attend court for charges of assault.

Police hope people will recognise the faces and come forward.
