A PRIMARY school was forced to shut yesterday due to a burst water pipe.
Burnley's St Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic Primary School, Lowerhouse Lane, was closed for the day after a water pipe burst leaving the floor covered in water.
The 149 pupils were told not to come to school, and those who did not get the message were sent home.
The school was due to be re-opened this morning as usual after work to fix the problem.
Headteacher Anne Hardisty said: "We made the decision to close for health and safety reasons but the damage is not serious and we should be back open as usual."
