MOVE over Kate Moss - and make way for Britain's newest supermodel, Agyness Deyn.
The girl who grew up in East Lancashire was given the ultimate accolade at the British Fashion Awards this week when she was voted Model of the Year.
IN just two years Agyness Deyn has established herself as the face of top fashion houses but now she is at the pinnacle of her career having been crowned Model of the Year at this week's British Fashion Awards.
The fashion circuit hasn't been as excited about a potential catwalk queen since Kate Moss.
Yet just seven years ago, Laura Hollins as she was then, was just an average teenage girl with a part-time job in a Rossendale chip shop.
Now the 24-year-old is the darling of the catwalk after a panel of the fashion industry's leading figures voted her the best in the business. beating the likes of Lily Cole and Irina Lazareanu.
Agyness celebrated her award at a glittering ceremony in Westminster by getting on the phone to her mum Lorraine from the stage.
Agnyess said the family would be having a party in Manchester this weekend to celebrate and that it was "really good" to win the award.
She said her mum was "well chuffed" at the news.
But just a few years ago regular customers at The Village Chippy in Stubbins, near Ramsbottom, were accustomed to seeing her standing behind the deep-fat fryer in a sleeveless tabard and regulation hairnet, serving portions of cod and chips during the weekend rush.
This young Lancashire lass has blossomed into one of the most exciting models of her generation - photographed for Vogue (in June she was on the cover) and fronting campaigns for designers such as Armani, Burberry and Mulberry.
Agyness attended All Saints' RC High School in Rawtenstall before going on to take A-levels at Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School Sixth Form before leaving in 2001.
As a child she was a bit of a tomboy who went to karate lessons and, aged 11, cut her hair so short that strangers would mistake her for a boy.
She met her best friend - trendy T-shirt designer Henry Holland - when they were youngsters and, after college, together they moved to London in search of their dreams.
After an approach by a photographer - who spotted her walking along Kentish Town Road in North London - she signed with an agency and was soon modelling full-time.
The agency advised her to change her name, she came up with the combination Agnes - after her grandmother - and Dean, an old family surname.
It was then adapted by her mum, who is a master in Reiki, a Japanese form of faith healing, who decided that Agyness Deyn would give the most positive spiritual combination - and success came rapidly.
Agyness said: "I was spotted in London, it was kind of unexpected so it's great.
"As a model you get to travel to so many amazing places and wear so many amazing clothes.
"It's like one big dress up and I love it. I love all the clothes I model. I would wear them all.
"I enjoy working in Milan because I have friends there so it's like home from home, I love New York because it's really chilled out and the catering is good!
"And I like Paris because I'm nearly home.
"I am having so much fun. You are like a character when you are modelling. It's a bit like acting.
"You have creative control and just feel the moment."
Seven years on from The Village Chippy, Agyness Deyn is Britain's most wanted supermodel, and you sense that this is just the beginning.
