A PENSIONER was sitting at his computer in the front room of his home when a 12-inch spanner was thrown through the window.
Blackburn magistrates heard it had been launched by Terrence Johnstone who felt aggrieved by an unwanted intrusion in his home by police.
Johnstone, 29, of Coleridge Street, Blackburn, admitted criminal damage.
He was ordered to pay £150 compensation and £60 costs.
Daniel King, defending, said police had received a tip off that Johnstone may be involved in the supply of drugs and raided his home.
The high profile search attracted the interest of neighbours who gathered outside his client's house.
"The search uncovered no drugs and the police arranged for a joiner to come and fix his door," said Mr King.
"When people did not leave the area he picked up the spanner from the joiner's toolbox and threw it through the window."
Mr King said he had no idea there was someone in the room.
