PRIME Minister Gordon Brown came under attack from an East Lancashire MP.
Ribble Valley Conservative Nigel Evans has called on Gordon Brown to "get a grip on his Government or make way for someone else".
Mr Evans pointed to a fundamental weakness that has been created in wake of recent problems such as the Northern Rock crisis and potential ID fraud through the loss of the two discs from HM Revenue and Customs.
Last week the Government was criticised after a donor was allowed to give money to the Labour party through intermediaries.
Mr Evans said: "It is going from bad to worse with each week that passes.
"Excuses, fudges and arrogance are no excuse for the Government.
"The UK needs to have a good grip on the country's direction.
"Brown is captain of a ship that is fast sinking in a storm of disarray and deceit.
"Unless Brown takes a firm hold of the reins then things will only get worse.
"Things cannot carry on like this - Brown is losing control and fast losing the plot."
