A NEW ERA is set to begin for Lancashire’s award-winning Stanley House Hotel and Spa as a new boss takes the reins at the venue, owned by Euro Garages tycoons Mohsin and Zuber Issa.
Simon Tauber first joined the Mellor venue as a restaurant and bar manager in 2016 and quickly rose through the ranks.
He then went on to become general manager at Hever Hotel Resort in Edenbridge, Kent, before re-joining Stanley House in January 2020 in a senior operations role and now has now been confirmed as the Lancashire venue’s new general manager.
Mr Tauber said: “It’s an exciting time for the hotel. The previous owners took the hotel from a dilapidated manor house and turned it into one of the most well known and loved venues in the region.
“At the heart of this success was a dedication to give an unrivalled guest experience and to invest, we never stood still.
“The new owners share these values and we are now in the process of developing some significant plans.”
These comes as the hospitality industry faces huge challenges across the board due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Venues across the country have had to cope with protracted shutdowns and an unprecedented drop in customers.
However, Mr Tauber, who first started working in hospitality at the age of 16 at the Marriot Hotel in Manchester during which he gained a Hospitality Management degree at Salford University, believes the industry can work its way through the crisis.
He said: “The day I started working in hospitality I knew this was the career for me, I loved it.
“I still get a thrill when we receive praise from our guests. I know then we have made a difference. Even during these unusual times, our team is working tirelessly to look after our guests, it’s a strong culture.”
“My goal is to build on our reputation and take the hotel to the next level in terms of facilities and guest experience.
“The new owners are ambitious and passionate about the future and I feel we are the start of an exciting journey and look forward to sharing our plans.”
Mr Tauber will be taking charge of 85 staff and will be working closely under the Issa brothers.
Mohsin Issa said: “Simon’s experience of the hotel and local region were important considerations when selecting him for the role.
“His vision and enthusiasm align with ours and I have no doubt Simon will fulfil a great leadership role and develop a fantastic local team.”
