Drugs that could prove to be potentially lethal are believed to have been sold in Clayton-le-Moors.
Police are investigating after one person is believed to have taken a vial of insulin, which is normally taken by people suffering from diabetes, fell ill and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Police are warning people of the dangers of taking the milky-white liquid which is contained in a self-sealed vial and has an orange cap.
They say it could cause severe side effects if taken including irregular breathing, unconsciousness and possibly even death.
