Alison Mitchell, from Salterforth, completed the Great North Run and raised £1,220 for Pendleside Hospice, Reedley.
She is not a keen runner but entered the competition because she wanted to help the hospice that cared for her mother, Freda Preston.
She was also running in memory of her friend Ken Riley.
"Alison has done marvellously to complete the course, especially as she is new to running," said hospice fund-raising manager Kaye Bartle.
"The amount she has raised is a wonderful tribute to both her mum and Ken.
"The money will help the hospice provide much- needed care to local people suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses."
