HENRY Holland, who is currently making a major splash on the London fashion scene, returned to his East Lancashire roots for his school's awards evening.

Henry left Oakhill College, Whalley, in 1999, and moved to London where he completed a degree and worked as a magazine fashion editor.

Last year he launched fashion label House of Holland creating slogan T-shirts, which soon attracted a cult following, favoured by supermodels Kate Moss and Rossendale-born Agyness Deyn, Henry's best friend and room mate.

He returned to the Wiswell Lane school last night as guest speaker and presented awards to the returning Year 11 students.

College principal Michael Kennedy opened the evening, held in the new Oakhill Academy building which opened last week, to celebrate the achievements of the students over the year.

Mr Kennedy paid tribute to the dedication of staff and the support of governors, put saved most credit for students, who "achieve highly, behave outstandingly and contribute excellently".
