A WEEK after being made subject to a suspended prison sentence a 29-year-old Blackburn man was caught shoplifting again.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Carl Poynton had stolen brandy to help pay off a drug debt and an £85 pair of trainers for his own use.
But the magistrates decided not to activate the suspended sentence after hearing measures to combat his drug addiction had not had time to take effect.
Poynton, of St Peter Street, pleaded guilty to shoplifting at Marks and Spencer and Welcome Sport and asked for three other offences, at Boots, Netto and Lloyds Pharmacy, to be taken into consideration.
He was made subject to community supervision order for 18 months, a further 30 days prison suspended for 18 months and made subject to a six month curfew between 9 pm and 9 am.
