A MOTORIST stopped by police quickly got insurance over the internet and then altered the time on his producer, a court heard.
But his attempts at forgery were described as "amateurish" and a police employee immediately became suspicious of the document, which showed he had got insurance at 3.38 pm and been stopped at 3.46 pm.
Aftab Aslam, 30, of Dukes Brow, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and using a false instrument. He was fined £400 with £75 costs.
Kathy Allan, prosecuting, said when Aslam was stopped a check with the police national computer showed there was no insurance on the car.
Basharat Ditta, defending, said Aslam had honestly believed he was covered to drive the car on his own insurance policy.
