TWO horses brought traffic to a standstill this morning after escaping from a field and on to a dual carriageway.

Insp Stuart Bruce said the horses had been able to get out of their field between Huncoat and Hapton and were running around on the A56 at around 7.30am.

Insp Bruce said the animals were quickly and safely taken from the road by officers.

He said: "The horses were used to being handled and it was no problem at all making sure we got them off the road."
