A ROAD safety group has received two prestigious awards.
Lancashire County Council's Road Safety Group has been recognised by Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards for their achievement and innovation in two pioneering schemes.
The first award was received for the 'Together We Can Make The Difference' (MTD) publicity and marketing strategy, which celebrates its 10th anniversary next year.
MTD is aimed at a wide target audience and recognises that the education of all road users is fundamental to improving road safety.
Over 26,000 companies, key community agencies, groups, associations and individuals have pledged their commitment to the strategy since 1998.
It encourages change by inviting people to make a commitment to the core aims of the strategy and set their own objectives and ways to implement them.
The second was in recognition of the 'Pre-Pass Support Scheme' which is aimed at drivers (usually parents and relatives) who accompany learner drivers on extra practice sessions.
