SIX cars were involved in a collision on the northbound Edenfield bypass, just before the M65 turn-off, at 8.02am today.
Sgt Gareth Hill from the road traffic police unit suggested the pile-up may have been caused by the "sheer weight of traffic and fog."
Two drivers with undamaged vehicles left the scene of the accident and police spoke to the remaining four drivers.
Damage was caused to some of the cars but all drivers were uninjured.
