TWO primary schools are to get new boilers at a total cost of £600,000.
Blackburn with Darwen Council will spend the cash to replace aged and inefficient heating systems.
The decision to install the new equipment was taken by borough regeneration boss Cllr Phil Riley.
He appointed Prometheus Group Services Ltd to undertake the installation of a new heating system at Audley Junior and Infant School in Queens Park Road, Blackburn.
The cost was agreed at £426,928.96 after nine firms bid for the contract.
Cllr Riley also accepted a bid of £169,473.70 from VWG Mechanical Ltd to undertake the installation of a new heating system at Feniscowles Primary School in Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn.
A report to Cllr Riley said: “Heating to both Audley Infant and Junior schools is aged and inefficient with the boiler installed and controlled from the junior school building. The purpose of this scheme is to provide new modern efficient and controllable separate heating systems.
“Feniscowles Primary School is split between two sites. This scheme is to provide a new modern efficient and controllable heating system to the junior block.”
