HYNDBURN MP Sara Britcliffe has welcomed the launch of the government’s new Trade and Agriculture Commission.
It will provide expert advice to government to ensure UK trade policy secures opportunities for the nation’s farmers and upholds high standards.
The commission will also advise on trade policy that will help boost the North-West’s food and drink exports.
Miss Britcliffe said: “I absolutely welcome the formal launch of the new Trade and Agriculture Commission, which will ensure our high standards are upheld and our farmers here in Hyndburn and Haslingden are able to seize new opportunities to export their goods abroad.
“The North West is home not only to some of the world’s best-known brands and manufacturers but also to a wide range of high quality, independent, local and regional food companies and growers. It is vital that we make sure that our Food and Animal Welfare Standards are not undermined and I know that this Government is committed to that.”
