A man is set to stand trial after being charged with throwing boiling water in a woman's face and over another man's chest.

George Preshur is due to appear before Preston Crown Court in December accused of two counts of throwing a destructive substance, namely boiling water, at Joe McMullen, as well as a woman, with the intention of burning, maiming, disfiguring, disabling or doing him grievous bodily harm.

The incident took place in Preston on June 16 last year.

Appearing via videolink from HMP Leeds, Preshur pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered by Judge Sara Dodd to appear again before the court on August 18 for further case management.

Another man, Andrew Tait, 22, was also charged with two counts of the same offence on the same victims in the same incident, but did not appear via videolink for the pre-trial hearing.

Judge Dodd ordered Tait, formerly of Keele Walk, Blackburn, but now of HMP Full Sutton, to attend the same case management hearing on August 18 alongside Preshur.

Preshur, 30, also formerly of Keele Walk, Blackburn but now of HMP Leeds, will stand trial for the offences on December 15.
