FOR the fourth consecutive day there have been no new deaths related to the coronavirus at any of Lancashire's hospitals.

This is now the longest period with no new fatalities reported to NHS England since the start of the pandemic.

The last Covid-19-related death was reported at a hospital within East Lancashire NHS Trust on July 17, taking the county's hospital death toll 1,006.

The death toll for hospitals within all of Lancashire's Trusts remain as follows: Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust have recorded 237 deaths.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have recorded a total of 248 Covid-19 related deaths, with East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust reporting 202.

University Hospitals Of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust reported 169, and Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust have a total of 150 deaths.

On Sunday, Blackburn with Darwen announced 18 new cases of the virus, bringing the total number of people with Covid-19 in the area to 1,187 or a rate of 797 per 100,000 of the population.

This figure rose again on Tuesday, with a further 18 cases confirmed in two days taking the total number to 1,205 or 809 per 100,000 people.

Over in Pendle a further six people have caught the virus, bringing the total there to 522, or an infection rate of 571,1 per 100,000 people.
